History In April 1941 the Hondurian Oriskany from the Standard Fruit & Steamship Co, New Orleans LA was sold to Wallem & Co Ltd, Hong Kong and changed the registry to Panama, later that year taken over by Ministry of War Transport (MoWT) and put under British flag. 
Notes on loss On 24 Feb, 1945, the Oriskany (Master David Souter Morrison) in convoy BTC-78 was torpedoed and sunk by U-1208 west of Lands End. The master, the convoy commodore (Cdr I.N. Macmillan RNR), 21 crew members, seven naval staff members and four gunners were lost.
