| Notes on loss | At 00.14 hours on 12 Oct, 1940, U-48 attacked the convoy HX-77 about 300 miles west of Broadhaven, Ireland and sank the Davanger (Master Elliot K. Karlsen). The master and 15 Norwegian crewmen died, as well as the British gunner. The 12 survivors set sail in their lifeboat and arrived in Broadhaven on 18 October. | ||
