History Built as Danish Irene Maria for Chr. Andresen, Copenhagen.
1940 taken over by Britain and transferred to the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). 
Notes on loss At 00.58 hours on 27 Nov, 1940, the Irene Maria (Master Alfred Peter Evers), a straggler from convoy OB-248, was hit by one torpedo from U-95 and sank northwest of Rockall. The ship had been missed by two torpedoes at 00.42 and 00.52 hours. The master and 24 crew members were lost.
