| Notes on loss | At 05.08 hours in 3 Apr, 1941, U-73 hit the Westpool in convoy SC-26 with one torpedo and one minute later missed a presumed armed merchant cruiser with another. At 05.12 hours, a third torpedo was fired which struck the Indier (Master J. Onghena) under the bridge, causing the ship to sink within one minute over the bow. 42 men of the 44 crew members and two gunners on board were lost. The four survivors were picked up and landed at Liverpool. | ||
