While on her 4th war patrol USS Cabrilla (Lt.Cdr. W.C. Thompson, Jr.) sinks a samll Japanese vessel with gunfire in the Java Sea in position 05º20'S, 117º10'E. (see map)

While on her 5th war patrol USS Cabrilla (Lt.Cdr. W.C. Thompson, Jr.) torpedoes and sinks the Japanese troop transport Maya Maru (3145 GRT) and torpedoes and damages the Japanese troop transport Natsukawa Maru (4739 GRT) off the west coast of Mindanao, Philippines in position 07º42'N, 122º05'E.
