Heavily damaged on 19 March 1943 by a torpedo from a German Ju.88 aircraft in Tripoli harbour, Libya. She was beached and eventually returned to England but was never repaired or returned to service.

HMS Derwent is not listed as active unit in the December 1943 Navy List

Scrapped in November 1946.
