| History | Refitted in 1935. Mainly used as aircraft ferry from the U.S.A. to France before the French capitulation. Interned in the West Indies at Martinique in June 1940 and demilitarized after American pressure on 14 May 1942. Transferred to the Free French forces on 30 June 1943. Refitted in the U.S.A. as aircraft transport 1943-1944 at New Orleans. The ship was rearmed with U.S. pettern armament; 4 5"/38 DP guns, 20 40 mm AA (5x4) and 26 20 mm AA. Hulked 1948 as a training ship. Later used as a submarine depot ship until stricken in November 1966. Sold 31 March 1967 and broken up for scrap in Italy. |
