Poncelet (Lt. P.H.S.B. De Saussine du Pont de Gault) intercepts and captures the German merchant Chemnitz (5522 GRT) of the Azores in position 38º05'N, 30º40'W. A prize crew took the Chemnitz to Casablanca. She was renamed Saint Bernard by the French. (see map)
