U-176 found?

Posted on: 11 Jan 2002 at 17:57.

The following has been reported to me by a member of a deep sea archeological research team off the coast of Cuba.

"The scientific team recently stumbled across the wreck of U-176 while searching for sunken Spanish galleons. As it turns out, the research team is planning to return to the site to explore the wreckage using deep sea video equipment and remote operated vehicles.

Unfortunately, the ship lies at a depth of 800 to 900 meters, so it is difficult for individuals to carry out ocular inspections of the wreck - not counting the fact that I believe maritime law forbids entering these sunken ships. In any case, we plan to make a documentary film from this expedition and its results."
