Japanese sub U-401 found off Oahu, Hawaii

The giant aircraft-carrying submarine, intended to attack the Panama Canel locks along with her sisters, was captured by the Americans at the end of WWII. She was sunk by the submarine USS Cabezon (SS-334) fired two torpedoes at the I-401 in June of 1946.

She was long lost (to the public at least) and discovered recently.
