Attacks on U-843 during this patrol
10 Apr 1944
An American B-24 bomber from Squadron VB 107 (pilot Edward W. Krug) attacked the boat causing damage to its stern torpedo tubes. The boat abandoned planned operations off Cape Town and continued into the Indian Ocean, arriving in Jakarta on June 11. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 537)
