General Events during this patrol
1941
23 Sep 1941. U-68 inspected the Spanish tanker Gobeo.
27 Sep 1941. U-68 and U-111 met in a remote location; the Tarafal Bay in the Cape Verde Islands at 1320 hrs. Allied code-breaking efforts had learned of the rendezvous (to treat an ill man on U-68) and placed a submarine in the area. 4 torpedoes were transferred from the homebound U-111 to U-68. Just before midnight U-111 was rammed and seriously damaged by the submarine HMS Clyde. Shortly afterwards U-67 also appeared on the scene and in the confusion she and the British submarine had a collision which damaged both boats.
16 Dec 1941. U-68 transferred 60 survivors from the sunken German support ships Python and Atlantis to the Italian submarine Enrico Tazzoli.
