Damaged by a torpedo explosion on 28 July, 1944 at Eckernförde. Stricken at Kiel on 28 Aug 1944. Scuttled in May 1945 at Deutsche Werke, Kiel (Dock 2).

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-1166 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
