Sunk 25 Nov, 1944 in the North Atlantic west of the Shetlands, in position 60.18N, 04.52W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Ascension. 48 dead (all hands lost).

Went missing in December 1944 in the North Channel. Possibly lost to mines north-west of Malin Head around 7 Dec in the minefields A1 or A2 which crossed its route.

Sunk 16 Jan, 1945 in the Northern Channel, in position 55.30N, 05.53W, by depth charges from the British sloops HMS Peacock, HMS Starling, HMS Hart and HMS Amethyst and the British frigate HMS Loch Craggie.

This attack was actually directed against a nonsub target.

General notes on this boat

Change in successes
2 ships have been believed to have been torpedoed and damaged by the U-482 on 15 Jan, 1945. Those ships were instead hit by U-1172 on that day as U-482 had already been lost.
