Descripton: An account of the sinking of the Athenia, largely from the point of view of the passengers and crew. Uses statements from survivors to reconstruct the last voyage of the Athenia in some detail. Discusses the Allied claim, later shown to be groundless, that U-30 surfaced and shelled the Athenia after torpedoing it. Simultaneously published in London under the title A Night of Terror: The Story of the Athenia Affair.
