This ship was sunk by U-66 with Kapitanleutnant Friedrich Markworth in command on 30 August, 1942. Bell's 20 days on a raft, rescue by HMS Vimy, and 1981 meeting in Germany with Markworth and some of the crew of U-66 are described. |
