Descripton: Covers the siege of Malta and the convoys sent to the island's aid. Most of the action in this theater consisted of German and Italian air attacks against British convoys. The few U-boat actions, such as the U-73's sinking of the aircraft carrier Eagle, are described. An interesting chapter on the successful use of Allied submarines as supply vessels is included. The successes and failures of the convoys and Allied aircraft defenses are analyzed, and accounts of air battles and of incidents on individual vessels are presented in compelling language. The book's only major shortcoming is its lack of an index.
