Submarine diesels etc

I just bought Eberhard Rössler´s recently reprinted story of German subs but I found a few things lacking. Does someone out there have some details of the diesels used in VII and IX classes? I mean bore&stroke, rpm, boost pressure, valve arrangement, specific fuel consumption curves, construction materials, cooling water& oil flow, temperature and pressure etc. Is there a source which would have detailed drawings of the engines?
Did German subs have air conditioning (at least Robert Stern´s book on VV class is silent about this and I could not find any info in Rössler either (which has surprisingly little data for IX class, pity))?
My sources indicate that British and US boats did.
BTW, my favorite subs are IX class, British T-class (though ugly) and US Balao.
