MY FATHER WAS ON THIS SHIP. HE LEFT NEW YORK FOR FRANCE. THE SHIP WAS SUNK NEAR ENGLAND AND SO THEY WERE TAKEN THERE INSTEAD OF FRANCE. THEY WERE IN THE WATER FOR THREE DAYS WHILE PLANES DROPPED BOMBS AROUND THEM TO GET THE SUB. A DESTROYER CAME AND PICKED THEM UP AND LATER TRANSPORTED THEM TO A HOSPITAL SHIP. THERE WERE MEN ON BOARD WHO WERE TAKING SHOWERS, SO WHEN THEY GOT TO ENGLAND, THEY PUT THESE MEN ON COTS, PUT BLANKETS OVER THEM AND CARRIED THEM ASHORE. THEY STAYED IN ENGLAND A MONTH AND THEN WENT TO FRANCE THROUGH THE ENGLISH CHANNEL TO BREST. I'M SO GLAD I FOUND SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNEW SOMEONE ON THIS SHIP. THANKS
