Personal information
Oblt. Werner Gebauer was one of the youngest U-boat commanders during WWII when he left for his patrol with U-681 from Kiel, Germany on 8 Feb 1945. He was only 22 years old at the time. He brought his boat to Horten, Norway 6 days later. His boat was lost on the second patrol on 10 March 1945.
