Iron Cross

This emblem of U-9 from WWII is in honor of Otto Weddigen's famous U-9 from WWI. After sinking 3 cruisers "before breakfast" in the first major submarine victory in history and thus proving the U-boat weapon Otto was given the Iron Cross which he put on the conning tower of his U-9.

The U-9 of WWII also adapted this emblem in his honor.
