History Launched as War Coronet for The Shipping Controller, completed in May 1920 as Greek Keramies for N.E. Ambatielos, Argostoli. 1923 sold to Britain and renamed King Idwal for Dodd, Thomson & Co Ltd, London. 
Notes on event

At 07.12 hours on 23 Nov 1940 the King Idwal (Master Richard Storm) in convoy OB-244 was torpedoed and sunk by U-123 about 158 miles west of Rockall. 12 crew members were lost. The master and 27 crew members were picked up by HMS Sandwich (L 12) (Cdr M.J. Yeatman, RN) and landed at Liverpool on 27 November.
