1 Nov 1944. On Nov 1, 1944 the U-483 torpedoed the British 1300 ton Captain class frigate HMS Whitaker (ex. USS DE 571) off Lough Swilly, Republic of Ireland. The frigate survived the blast but was damaged beyond repair and was eventually broken up in 1948.
