31 Oct 1942. U-521 was attacked by a Hudson aircraft from Squadron 145 and sustained minor damage.

12 Nov 1942. U-521 transferred an ill crewmember to U-117; and U-413 transferred an ill crewmember to U-71, both in the North-Atlantic.
