19 Oct 1942. A hard-won success for U-610. The boat fired three torpedoes at the Steel Navigator at 1303hrs, but without success. When the ship fired back with the gun, the U-boat dived, but continued to follow the ship. At 1946hrs a second attack with two torpedoes was successful.
