At 21.55 hours, the HNoMS Potentilla spotted two U-boats on the surface close to convoy ONS-122 and began to chase them northwards. They were U-174 and U-755, the latter being fired on with the 4in gun on a distance of about 12 miles but the shots all fell short. Both U-boats were able to escape on the surface at full speed within two hours in the dark. (Sources: ADM reports, KTB U-755)
