Attacks on U-801 during this patrol
16 Mar 1944
The boat was attacked by an Avenger aircraft from the escort carrier USS Block Island in the Mid Atlantic. One man died and 9 men were wounded. The U-boat was sunk the next day. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 535)
