Attacks on U-378 during this patrol

29 Mar 1942
At 14.11 hours, a U-boat was spotted by HMS Fury, escorting the damaged HMS Trinidad off the port bow in the Barents Sea. The destroyer attempted to ram the enemy, but it escaped by diving and was only attacked with three depth charges as the throwers were iced up. For some time it was believed that this attack sank U-585, but was actually against U-378 causing no damage. (Sources: 1977-01-01, Claude Huan)
