General Events during this patrol
1942
24 Jun 1942. U-77 was attacked by the British submarine HMS Ultimatum with a spread of four torpedoes from a distance of 7000 yards north of Tobruk in 34°20N/24°09E. The submarine claimed a possible hit, but the U-boat only reported being shaken by two detonations at 07.10 hours in grid CO 5365. Apparently two torpedoes detonated at the end of their run or on the seabed.
4 Jul 1942. U-77 was attacked by the British submarine HMS Thrasher with torpedoes and gunfire west of Haifa in 32°48N/33°36E. At 08.09 hours, two torpedoes passed the U-boat in 50 metres distance in grid CP 5837. 5 minutes later the submarine surfaced and opened fire, but the U-boat crash dived and unsuccessfully tried to get into an attack position.
