Attacks on U-267 during this patrol
7 Jul 1943
Off Cape Finisterre a British Catalina aircraft (Sqdn 210, pilot John A. Cruickshank) dropped depth charges on the boat (reported to be sailing unalert on the surface). The boat dived and escaped the attack but was severely damaged and had to re-surface and report the damage and abort its patrol. The boat was repaired in part and managed to elude allied hunters sent to destroy him, reaching France on July 13. (Sources: Blair, vol 2, page 388)
