Attacks on U-62 during this patrol
29 Jul 1940
The British submarine HMS Sealion (Lt. Cdr. Ben Bryant) spotted U-62 as the latter was returning from patrol. Sealion fired 3 torpedoes but the Germans had seen its periscope and avoided the salvo. Sealion then surfaced and engaged with her deck gun and U-62 with just 27 minutes worth of recharged batteries submerged and eluded the British boat.
