Schütze's S - U-103


This was the personal insignia of KrvKpt. Victor Schütze who became famous on his very successful type IXB boat U-103.

This is the Runic letter S and was meant to indicate its successful commander's initial.

Another commander, Herbert Viktor-Schütze, also displayed the same emblem on his U-605.

There was another variant of the Runic S seen on the U-65.
