HMCS Arvida (T/Lt. A.I. MacKay, RCNR) picks up 27 survivors from the British merchant Maritima that was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-522 in the North Atlantic about 500 nautical miles north-east of St.Johns, Canada in position 52º20'N, 45º40'W.

HMCS Arvida (T/Lt. D.G. King, RCNVR) picks up 50 survivors from the British merchant Fort Rampart that was torpedoed and finally sunk with gunfire by the German submarine U-226 about 900 nautical miles east-north-east of the Azores in position 47º28'N, 22º00'W.
