The German submarine U-562 was sunk in the Mediterranean north-east of Bengazi, in position 32º57'N, 20º54'E, by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Isis (Lt.Cdr. D.R. Mitchell, RN), the British escort destroyer HMS Hursley (Lt.Cdr. W.J.P. Church, DSC, RN) and a British Wellington aircraft (Sqdn 38/S).
