The British merchant Cyclops is torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-123 about 125 miles southeast of Cape Sable, Nova Scotia, Canada in position 41º51'N, 63º48'W. HMCS Red Deer (T/Lt. A. Moorhouse, RCNR) later picks up 95 survivors.
