9 May 1941
The German submarine U-110 was captured on 9 May 1941 in the North Atlantic south of Iceland by the British destroyers HMS Bulldog (Lt.Cdr. A.J.B. Cresswell, RN) and HMS Broadway (Lt.Cdr. T. Taylor, RN) and the British corvette HMS Aubretia (Lt.Cdr. V.F. Smith, RNR). The U-boat was allowed to sink the day after to preserve the secret capture.

4 Jul 1943
Between 2100 and 2145 hours on 4 July 1943 the British passenger ship City of Venice and the British merchant St. Essylt were torpedoed and sunk off Cape Tenez, Algeria in position 36º44'N, 01º31'E. (The St. Essylt caught fire and blew up next moring.)

461 of the crew of and troops the City of Venice was carrying were rescued by the British corvettes HMS Honeysuckle (Lt. H.H.D. MacKillican, DSC, RNR), HMS Rhododendron (Lt. O.B. Medley, RNVR), the British frigate HMS Teviot (Cdr. T. Taylor, DSC, RN) and the British rescue tug HMRT Restive (Lt. D.M. Richards, RNR).

397 of the crew and troop of the St. Essylt were picked up by HMS Honeysuckle, HMS Rhododendron and HMRT Restive.

9 Oct 1943
On 9 October 1943, convoy WS-33 arrived in South Africa from the UK with reinforcements for service in Burma, the convoy consisted of 4 ships. The British frigats HMS Bann, HMS Plym, HMS Teviot and HMS Trent were responsible for providing the Anti-Submarine escort on the last leg of the passage.
