16 Mar 1944
After a long period of trials and training it looks like HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) is going to see some action again. She departs Blyth for Lerwick from where she is to patrol of the Norwegian coast to intercept the damaged German battleship Tirpitz that is reported to return to Germany for repairs.

17 Mar 1944
HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) arrives at Lerwick to top off with fuel.

18 Mar 1944
HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Lerwick for her 27th war patrol. She is forced to abandon this patrol and head back to Lerwick after only a few hours due to merchanical problems.

24 Mar 1944
As it by now had become clear to the British high command that Tirpitz was not proceeding towards German, HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) was ordered to leave Lerwick and proceed to Holy Loch.

27 Mar 1944
HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) arrives at Holy Loch. A period of more exercises followed.

15 May 1944

With the repairs to both main engines completed HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Gibraltar for Malta.

HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) arrives at Malta. While at Malta more engine defects were discovered.

HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Malta Malta with convoy GUS-52 for Gibraltar. She is ordered to return to the U.K. due to the nature of her recent engine defects. Her deployment to the Far East is cancelled.

29 Sep 1944
HMS Truant (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Gibraltar for Portsmouth. She makes this trip with convoy MKS-62.

Truant will remain at Portsmouth for engine repairs and refit until early March 1945. Afterwards she proceeds to Barrow where a snort is fitted. Upon completion she is used for trails.

1 Dec 1944
HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Scapa Flow with her escort HMS Northern Spray (T/Lt. G.J.Y. Thorpe, RNVR).

After a few hours Northern Spray reports that her Asdic is out of commission and both ships returned to Scapa Flow.

2 Dec 1944
After repairs to the Asdic set of HMS Northern Spray (T/Lt. G.J.Y. Thorpe, RNVR), HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs Scapa Flow again to begin her trip to the U.S.A.

12 Dec 1944
HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) and her escort HMS Northern Spray (T/Lt. G.J.Y. Thorpe, RNVR) arrive at St. Johns, Canada. En-route damage was done to both ships in very heavy weather.

16 Dec 1944
HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) and her escort HMCS Collingwood (T/Lt. H.R. Knight, RCNR) depart St. Johns bound for Philadelphia, U.S.A.

22 Dec 1944
HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) arrives in Delaware Bay, she now proceeds up river towards Philadelphia.

23 Dec 1944
HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) arrives at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for a much needed refit.

25 Jun 1945
With her refit completed HMS Truculent (Lt. E.C. Croswell, DSC, RN) departs the U.S. Navy yard at Philadelphia for New London, Connecticut. She proceeds to Delaware Bay and then anchors.
