History
Notes on loss At 11.50 hours on 11 Sep, 1942, U-96 tried to stop the three-masted schooner Delães by three shots across her bow and then shelled and sunk the vessel when it did not stop. The neutral ship was sunk because no neutrality markings were seen from 200 metres, it steered suspicious courses close to the convoy ON-127 and the Germans believed to hear Asdic signals from the ship.
