| Notes on loss | At 06.07 hours on 9 Oct, 1942, U-69 fired a torpedo at the convoy NL-9 in the Gulf of St.Lawrence near Bic Island and heard a detonation after six minutes. At 06.09 hours, a second torpedo was fired which sank the Carolus (Master William Broman). Eleven crew members were lost. The master, 16 crew members and two gunners were picked up by the HMCS Hepatica (K 159) (LtCdr T. Gilmour) and HMCS Arrowhead (K 145) (LtCdr E.G. Skinner) and landed at Quebec. | ||
