| Notes on loss | At 08.21 hours on 14 Oct, 1942, the railway ferry Caribou (Master Benjamin Taverner) in convoy NL-9 was torpedoed and sunk by U-69 in the Cabot Strait. The master, 30 crew members, 57 service personnel and 48 passengers were lost. 15 crew members, 61 service personnel and 25 passengers were picked up by the HMCS Grandmere (J 258) (Lt J.S.C. Cuthbert) and landed at Sydney the same day. | ||
