| History | On 11 May, 1942, the French barquentine Angelus of Felix Chevalier, Cancale was taken as prize by HMCS Prescott (K 161) on the Grand Banks and sent to Sydney, where she was turned over to the Canadian Government Merchant Marine Ltd. | ||
| Notes on loss | At 11.30 hours on 19 May, 1943, the Angelus was stopped by U-161 north of Bermuda and sunk by gunfire after the crew of ten men abandoned ship in a lifeboat. When the boat was found after five days by USS Turner (DD 648), only two of them were still alive, the others had died from exposure. The survivors were landed at Portland, Maine on 27 May 1943. | ||
