| Notes on loss | The Lurigethan (Master Kennedy) straggled from convoy SL-61 due to bad weather and was bombed and damaged by a German Fw200 aircraft from I./KG 40 on 23 Jan, 1941. At 02.12 hours on 26 January, U-105 fired one torpedo at the burning and abandoned Lurigethan, which sank after the hit. 15 crew members and one gunner were lost. The master and 34 crew members were picked up by HMS Arabis (K 73) that had remained near the ship to wait for a tug. The U-boat had missed the corvette with two torpedoes before sinking the damaged ship. | ||
