| Notes on loss | At 23.00 hours on 16 Mar, 1943, U-603 fired three FAT and one G7e torpedoes at the convoy HX-229 and heard one certain and one possible detonation. The only ship hit was the Elin K. (Master Robert Johannessen), which was hit by one torpedo and sank. All crew members abandoned ship in the lifeboats and were picked up by the HMS Pennywort (K 111). | ||
