At 16.05 hours on 22 Nov 1939 the Arijon in convoy 14-BS was hit forward of amidships by one torpedo from U-43 and sank within a few minutes in the Bay of Biscay. 14 crew members and two gunners were lost. The survivors were rescued by the French armed trawler Cap Nord.
