| Notes on loss | At 23.48 hours on 24 Apr, 1942, the unescorted Empire Drum (Master John Robert Miles) was torpedoed by U-136 north of Bermuda. The vessel was sunk by a coup de grāce at 00.08 hours on 25 April. The master, 32 crew members and 16 gunners were picked up by the Swedish merchant Venezia and landed at New York. Two crew members were rescued by a US destroyer and landed at Norfolk. | ||
