Notes on loss At 09.57 hours on 22 Aug, 1942, the Hammaren, dispersed from convoy OS-36, was torpedoed and sunk by U-507 about 40 miles off Bahia. The ship had been missed by three single torpedoes, fired at 09.09, 09.11 and 09.12 hours. The U-boat then fired eight rounds from her 10.5cm gun into the ship and missed the vessel again with a torpedo at 09.52 hours. Finally the fifth torpedo, fired five minutes later sank the ship.
