| Notes on loss | At 13.58 hours on 24 Sep, 1942, the Roumanie (Master E. Morbée), a straggler from convoy SC-100, was torpedoed and sunk by U-617. The chief engineer Suykerbuyk was found on a raft and taken prisoner by the U-boat and landed at St. Nazaire on 7 October. The master, 35 crew members (21 Belgians) and six British gunners were lost. | ||
