| Notes on loss | On 3 Mar, 1940, the Cato (Master Richard Martin) struck one of eight mines laid on 2 March by U-29 and sank 2.5 miles southeast of Nash Point in the Bristol Channel. The master, ten crew members and two gunners were lost. Two crew members were picked up by the HMS Akita (FY 610) (Capt W.A. Walker DSC). | ||
