History
Notes on loss At 02.28 hours on 26 Jun, 1940, the unescorted Crux (Master Einar Hansen) was torpedoed and sunk by UA. Twenty minutes after the crew left the ship in lifeboats, a southbound ship passed by very near, but did not see them in the dark. They did not use their flashes to make themselves known, because they thought that the U-boat was still near them. They were picked up by the British steam merchant Brutus the following day.
