At 07.23 hours on 2 Dec, 1940, U-52 fired a torpedo at Tasso (Master Arnold Herbert) in convoy HX-90, hit the ship amidships and caused her to sink about 360 miles west of Bloody Foreland. Five crew members were lost. The master and 26 crew members were picked up by HMS Viscount (D 92) and landed at Liverpool.
